Welcome to a world where color theory and fashion collide. Jules, is the mastermind behind Colour Consultancy, an agency who hand women the keys to a powerful wardrobe. Colors possess the remarkable ability to shape our appearance and emotions, letting us express ourselves. In this post, we get Jules take on all things cut, colour and of course... Handbags!
Hey Jules, you know all there is to know about colour theory and fashion, so what makes colour such an important part of our wardrobe?
Colour has the power to transform the way we look and feel. Wearing colours we love allows us to project our own individual personalities and create an image for that moment and that event, in our own unique way.
A colourful handbag is the perfect way to boost our mood and elevate an outfit in an instant whilst adding that pop of joy and nod to fashion trends. We are currently in a Barbicore “pink” global frenzy, and if you don't like to wear pink, donning a fuschia handbag is a great way to join the barbie party without looking like the doll herself!!
What are your wardrobe essentials for this season?
In my wardrobe this summer and on repeat are my white cowboy boots, a coral linen wide legged trouser suit, pink silk shirt and paige bootcut jeans.
We need to know what a successful woman carries with her, what’s in your handbag right now?
My mobile (obviously), a small gold purse, hand sanitiser, coral lip gloss and sunglasses (I’m ever hopeful).
Do you like a mini bag (just room for keys and lipstick) or maxi bag (room for a change of clothes and the kitchen sink)?
Mini bags for everyday and evening, they suit my lifestyle as I like to be hands free, but I would choose a maxi bag if I am working and need to carry my colour tools and make a bold colourful statement with my outfit. I have my eye on the new Millie in metallic gold for the new season! Such a fabulously versatile option the metallics, with the glamour and glitz of gold, suiting the warmer springs and autumns out there and the sophistication of silver for the cool summers and winters.
Which Sarah Haran bag is your favourite style / colour combination?
I adore the Jasmine crossbody which I currently have in a stunning red shade with gold hardware (I have a warm skin tone so suits me best). I team mine with the red front tassel and deco back strip, plus I have the added clementine strap which means I can swap over from the crossbody style into a shorter shoulder look.
I also have the leopard print Ivy bag, which is a press-on addition to the Jasmine on the back, so it creates two looks in one and gives me extra space, combined with a leopard tassel at the front of my Jasmine to pull it all together. The extra joy of this is that Ivy stands alone as its own bag, a wonderfully clever investment.
If you could design your dream bag, what would it look like?
I thought long and hard about this question because over the years I have collected a number of colourful choices and styles. Because I now opt for the smaller, crossbody styles I think my perfect bag would be a tan croc leather (tan can be seen as a neutral that goes with everything!) with gold hardware, a top zip for ease of access and then some interchangeable colourful straps so I could add some brightness and colour depending on the time of year and the colours I was wearing to match or clash with my mood that day.
If I could have a second choice, I would have a bold yellow, wow bag that made a bright sunny statement and made me smile every time I wore it! (Okay, maybe that's my first choice after all!!).
