With the current uncertainty surrounding us at this difficult time, many of us are doing what we can to avoid social contact and stay in our homes. Whilst at first this seems wonderful, the novelty of it soon wares off and we find ourselves actively seeking new ways to challenge our minds and keep them occupied. We have popped together a list of things we think will help stimulate the mind!
1. Podcast - 'Women In Business - Ask For More' with Zara Janjua
Journalist, Zara, is on a mission to help female entrepreneurs connect with inspirational women who have turned their passion and dreams into a reality. This new series, brought to you by the Royal Bank of Scotland, covers a whole host of topics from philanthropy & funding, to finding yourself a mentor & shaking up your industry. She's joined by a whole host of successful business women, including Celia Hodson and Judy Murray.
2. E-Book & Survey - 'Style Confidence' by Sarah Haran
We spoke to more than 350 UK based women between the ages of 25 & 74, on everything from rating self confidence at work, to how they can make an impact, and the importance of workplace style on confidence. The results make for some really interesting reading, and we have also put together a downloadable free e-book on style confidence to give you tips for all occasions.
3. Series 'Next In Fashion' Netflix
We were hooked on this Netflix reality series which looks at designers teaming up to create visionary looks that work for everybody. Hosted by Alexa Chung and Tan France, this 10 part series looks at 18 up and coming fashion designers compete in different tasks and challenges on designing styles and trends that can be worn by people worldwide.
4. Book Club - Beth's Book Club with Beth Sandland
Multi award winning blogger, Beth, hosts an online book club where members read one book a month and share their thoughts in a scheduled monthly meeting. Everyone is welcome, and it is all done online so you are able to participate from anywhere in the world, from the comfort of your own home (perhaps with a glass of wine in hand!). 5. Radio Show - Smooth Breakfast with Jenni Falconer
A perfect reason to get up at the usual time and kick start the day is by tuning into listen to Jenni on Smooth Radio. She will ease you into your day with the latest news updates and music to get us going for the day ahead. As well as this, she also hosts a fab podcast on running - perhaps the only run club you can be a part of just by listening! Sounds ideal, right? Sarah's top tips of things to do -
1. Set up a FaceTime/Skype coffee morning with your friends. This way you can still keep in touch as a group in a situation that feels more personable than just a group chat. It's super important to keep talking to friends as much as possible at times like these - make each other laugh and smile and you will feel so much better!
2. Do an online course. Use the time wisely to get your head down and learn something you have been putting off/not had the time for. Perhaps its a new language, skills in social media or how to build the business you have always dreamed of starting?!
3. Organise your home! We are heading into Spring anyway so we may as well start the spring clean now. There are loads of celebs online who are sharing their top tips on Instagram, check out Anthea Turner and Stacey Solomon as great starting points.
4. Learn to cook new things. Rather than rushing out to the shops to stockpile on pasta and tinned foods, challenge yourself to get through what you have in your cupboards already and create new dishes you wouldn't have made before. You will be surprised at your creative flare and how delicious these random dishes can be!
5. Have a social cleanse. Probably safe to say we are all following a load of accounts that have no positive impact on our lives? Take the time now to cleanse who you follow on social media, so that every time you log on you are only seeing posts that bring positivity into your life. It's so easy for our moods to change in a flash just from something we have seen online, but we can eliminate this from happening by taking action!
